About this symbol
The snowman has been in Unicode since version 1.1 in 1993, as one of a small set of weather symbols; Unicode’s own notes describe it as snowy weather. A second snowman without snow, ⛄, was added in 2009 and stands for light snow. The original ☃ became an emoji in 2015, in the first list of emoji Unicode published.
