About this symbol
Ophiuchus, the serpent bearer, is a constellation that the Sun passes through each year, between Scorpius and Sagittarius, but it was never one of the twelve signs of the traditional zodiac. Unicode added its sign in 2010, when Japanese phone companies included it among their emoji.
